Collinsville Streetscape
The Farmington River Rail Trail through Collinsville was constructed in the 1990’s with ISTEA funding. There were few amenities or connections to the adjacent village center – the trail essentially bypassed the village. In 2013, the Town of Canton engaged K+F to prepare a Village Center Master Plan and Phase One Construction Documents that included the section of rail trail through the village.
Phase One was completed summer of 2015 and has transformed the experience of trail users along this segment of the trail. A shaded plaza with benches, bike racks, lighting, info kiosk and water fountain greet visitors to the village. A principal objective of the project was to stimulate economic activity in the village. The once hemmed-in trail now expands onto Main Street and welcomes visitors to shops and restaurants.
