Storrs Town Center
Kent + Frost was selected through a competition to design the new Town Square at Storrs Center. The square will be the center piece public space for the new $300 million mixed-use downtown development adjacent to the University of Connecticut. The half acre site will accommodate festivals, concerts, farmers markets, and a variety of programmed and casual activities.
The design of the square includes a central lawn circle, a performance stage with pavilion, plaza area with decorative paving and a landmark shade structure. Custom designed light pylons and sculpture will give the square a unique placemaking quality.
Construction started in November of 2013 and completition of the hardscape in Summer of 2014, structures to be completed in Spring of 2015. K+F has authored design, construction documents, and is involved in construction administration.
