US Coast Guard Academy – Alexander Hamilton Monument
K+F was selected through a competition to design a new monument plaza for a statue of Alexander Hamilton, father of the U.S. Coast Guard. The firm was involved in all aspects of the project including collaboration with sculptor Benjamin Victor.
The design process included extensive meetings and interaction with the Class of “63 project committee, Academy historian, and Facilities Department. K+F assisted the committee in formulation of interpretive content and graphic design of five bronze plaques mounted on a low wall behind the statue. Construction materials were selected for durability and compatibility with surrounding architecture and campus context.
